Turmoil & Tranquility...

-It is better to fail having tried, than to fail for not trying.

-The body thrives when the heart has a mission.

-Painting, in regards to fine art, is an effort to capture an emotional response to something we feel in our heart.

Here are some progressive photos of the painting I started this past weekend. The total elapsed painting time at this point is about 4.5 hours. Another sitting is being scheduled to finish the painting.

Stage IV.

Stage III.

NEW Painting the still life: au premier coup/plein air

In this five-week class we focus on technical and conceptual methods of alla prima/plein air painting, completing a painting in one day. We paint from still lifes set up in class. As weather permits we also paint outdoors. In each session we address different painting problems and explore ways to solve them. We also explore color theory, drawing, and design. Painting experience preferred but not required.
